The New Zealand national cricket team, or Black Caps, represents New Zealand in both domestic and international cricket matches. Competing in Test, ODI, and T20I tournaments worldwide; currently they rank number three.

New Zealand has an illustrious first-class cricket history and boasts many prestigious titles across both men’s and women’s formats. The Black Caps play all domestic cricket in Ford Trophy and Hallyburton Johnstone Shield as well as undertaking an extensive touring schedule.

They also belong to the International Cricket Council (ICC), participating in multiple global competitions like Champions Trophy and World Cup tournaments.

New Zealand has historically had less success at Test cricket, yet did manage to win its inaugural Test match in 1956 and steadily improve in the 1970s under Richard Hadlee – although this record would later be broken by Kapil Dev.

In one-day international cricket, New Zealand have earned numerous prestigious awards and been one of the premier teams globally. Their record in ODI cricket stands at 69 wins and 30 losses; making them eighth best overall when measured against winning percentage; they tie with South Africa as having most all-time wins of any side ever!

Preparation

New Zealand sent one of their strongest teams, comprised of Bert Sutcliffe, Martin Donnelly, John R Reid and Jack Cowie to England for Test series against Australia; as a result, New Zealand earned Test status.
