India vs. South Africa

Team India (commonly referred to as Team India or Men in Blue) represents India internationally in cricket. Governed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India and an ICF Full Member with Test, One Day International (ODI), and Twenty20 International (T20I) status respectively.

Rohit Sharma currently captains Team India while previous captains included Sachin Tendulkar, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, and Virat Kohli among others.

On November 23, South Africa won the toss and elected to bat first, scoring 251 runs while India were bowled out for only 93 in their reply innings.

Following an exciting brief cameo from Axar Patel with boundaries, South Africa secured victory by 30 runs courtesy of offspinner Simon Harmer who claimed 4-30 in first innings and four wickets in second.

On November 26 at Guwahati Stadium, South Africa scored 238 runs while India only mustered up 190 in response. After winning the toss and opting to field in their second innings, South Africa beat India again by bowling them out for just 189, taking an unassailable lead 2-0 in series play.

Rabada, Jansen and Maharaj all took multiple wickets as Rabada took out Nitish Reddy with a remarkable catch by Aiden Markram in the final over to secure South African victory!

1st Test

South Africa launched an aggressive attack after electing to bat first, losing three top three batsmen early before Miller and Brevis put together an impressive 97-run partnership and put themselves back on top of proceedings. India, on the other hand, struggled against Proteas bowlers with both Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma falling cheaply for ducks while Washington was dismissed after only 18 runs were scored by Jadeja nicking another duck as their team were all out for just 187 runs.

This Test match was notable for being the inaugural use of television replays in a Test match – something which would become standard across cricket – and being the first time an international team other than England, Australia and West Indies had played in South Africa since a controversial series of privately organised “rebel” tours from 1983-84 that led to a sporting boycott until apartheid laws were dismantled and nonracial cricket boards established.

The second Test was much closer. South Africa scored 293 and India responded with 347 runs; but this match was marred by an extraordinary incident when Rohit Sharma was caught leg-side after Aiden Markram dived fully to catch him leg side – leading to an angry outburst from Kohli as well as attacks against umpires and an ongoing feud between captains that resulted in numerous heated exchanges, leading ultimately to suspensions for both Kohli and Markram from ICC for their conduct on the field throughout this series.

2nd Test

After failing to seize their chance at Leeds, India finally broke their Edgbaston jinx with an impressive victory at Edgbaston. Shubman Gill, Mohammed Siraj, Rishabh Pant and Akash Deep helped script an unforgettable win for India on an ideal wicket for batters. Deep also claimed his maiden Test five-for on a field that favours them so much.

Gill, who at 25 years and 301 days became the youngest Indian captain ever to win an overseas Test match, made an outstanding start by scoring a double in the opening innings while Pant and Jadeja made half centuries en route to scoring 587 runs and placing England under pressure. Gill and Siraj took key wickets during England’s second innings.

India are projected to win the series 2-1 and will take part in their final Test at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur, Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is anticipated that this pitch will be more spin friendly, benefiting those batting second.

Weather conditions could vary with cloudy skies possibly turning cloudy with possible rain showers expected at times throughout the match; nonetheless this ground has long been considered one of the premier cricket venues in Bangladesh since 1989 when first opened and currently hosting over 120,000 spectators each day!

3rd T20I

At Ahmedabad, defending champions India were left reeling when South Africa stunned them with an emphatic 87-run win. South African played some good cricket while their bowlers Jansen, Bosch, Maharaj, and Lungi Ngidi bowled memorably – leading by Jansen, Bosch Maharaj Lungi Ngidi took apart India’s top order frequently for three wickets within six overs before Miller and Brevis managed a remarkable 97 run stand to counterattack South African bowlers!

India attempted to fight back during the middle overs, but their batting struggled to find form. Ishan Kishan was bowled for a duck while Abhishek Sharma failed to use his platform by falling for run-a-ball 18. Hardik Pandya and Dube shared in a promising 35-run partnership but this wasn’t enough on such an unpredictable pitch.

Shere Bangla National Stadium is known to give teams who bat second a stronger chance of victory, so the winning toss should usually decide to bat first.

Weather forecast for this match indicates a cloudy sky with an approximate 20 percent chance of rain, warming to 27 degrees Celsius with dry outfield conditions providing speed. Game starts at 10 am IST.

4th T20I

South Africa made a bold start and immediately overran India. They won the toss and elected to bat first, quickly reaching an impressive 71/3 before Brevis and Miller displayed outstanding counterattacking against Indian bowling to reach 187/5.

India attempted a comeback but their lower order foundered; Ishan Kishan out for a duck while Tilak struggled at bat; so, by drinks break time it was all one way traffic for South Africa.

The Proteas’ bowlers performed excellently, using every bowler they brought into the match to excellent effect – Jansen, Maharaj and Bosch all taking multiple wickets with Lungi Ngidi providing some outstanding support as an almost unplayable bowler himself.

Overall it was an outstanding effort by South Africa in all departments as they recorded another impressive victory and set themselves up as potential world cup challengers in 2014.

India, however, faced both offensive and defensive struggles. They lost three of their top four early and struggled to keep up with the run rate – Rohit Sharma and Kohli both scored ducks while Dube was dismissed early with poor runscoring numbers. Washington did nothing of note in terms of impactful performance either and Jasprit Bumrah won his 100th T20I wicket but couldn’t help India achieve any sort of comeback.

India have not experienced defeat in 18 matches across formats at an ICC event since losing the final of 2023 T20 World Cup Adelaide, but South Africa have recorded their biggest victory against India yet in T20Is.
