Punjab Kings

The Punjab Kings, or PBKS for short, are a professional Twenty20 cricket team from New Chandigarh, India. They compete in the Indian Premier League and are jointly owned by Mohit Burman of Dabur, Ness Wadia of the Wadia Group, Preity Zinta of Zinta Entertainment, and Karan Paul of the Dey & Dey Group. They are based at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in New Chandigarh.

After a series of middling seasons, the Punjab Kings hit the jackpot in 2014, assembling an exciting side led by George Bailey and boosted by Glenn Maxwell and David Miller. They topped the league phase and narrowly lost the final, with Miller the best-hitting batsman of the tournament.

That was the high point for the franchise, though they never again reached the playoffs. The following year, they brought in Ricky Ponting as coach and Shreyas Iyer as captain and a combination of young talent and experience led them to another top-four finish.

This year, things went pear-shaped. They started the season slowly and won just one of their first five games, but then stormed into contention with a run of five straight victories in late April. They were beaten in the final by Rising Pune Supergiant, who piled up 267 with eight wickets to spare and broke the world record for the highest successful T20 chase.

The batting wobbled, but the bowlers were solid. Harshal Patel was their leading wicket-taker, while Yuzvendra Chahal and Mohammad Shami contributed a lot with the ball in the death overs.

Uncapped batsmen like Prabhsimran Singh, Priyansh Arya, and Nehal Wadhera also showed their worth with the bat. But a lack of consistency and a weak final performance left them just outside the playoff places once again.

Rajasthan Royals

The Rajasthan Royals (RR) are currently in fourth position in the IPL 2026 points table after their defeat against Delhi Capitals (DC). Despite Riyan Parag’s fine innings of 90 off 50 balls, RR could not defend a target of 226. They were bowled out for 159, with Mitchell Starc taking three wickets.

The defeat saw RR lose ground on RCB, who have now reached the top of the table with six wins and 12 points. The next three teams are Mumbai Indians (MI), Gujarat Titans, and DC. Both MI and GS have a net run rate above 1.0, while DC is below the mark. Besides, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) are struggling in the bottom of the table with just four points and a net run rate of -0.827.

The batting unit for LSG has been a major disappointment this season as none of the batsmen have managed to hit more than fifty in the current edition. Apart from Ravindra Jadeja, who has been in good form, the other batters have failed to score big.

In fact, some of the batsmen, like Ayush Badoni, Aiden Markram, and Mayank Yadav, have been a complete disaster on the field. They need to improve their batting performance if they wish to make any progress this season. The team’s captain, Riyan Parag, has to take the responsibility of this poor batting performance.

Royal Challengers Bangalore

The Royal Challengers begin their title defence against Sunrisers Hyderabad at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on March 28. They have been hounded by off-field controversy and ownership questions, but the Bengaluru club is looking to silence their critics with performances on the field.

The team led by star batsman Virat Kohli has found a perfect balance between grit and finesse this season. Their bowlers have also improved, with Yuzvendra Chahal mixing things up and claiming the Purple Cap, while spinners Sreenath Arvind and Chris Jordan are providing more guile.

The RCB bowlers, led by Harshal Patel and Mohammad Siraj, restricted Delhi to 170 for four before the batsmen came to the rescue. An unbeaten 42-ball 75 from AB de Villiers helped the Royals to reach the target with one ball to spare. But a brilliant final over from Delhi’s David Miller, who hit two back-to-back sixes and a four to finish with 61 off 46 balls, meant that the visitors fell agonisingly short of a win.

Earlier, Sunrisers Hyderabad showed that they were still masters of defending low totals. SRH captain Bhuvneshwar Kumar starred with the ball, taking three wickets and conceding just 18 runs in his spell. He complemented the effort of seamers Sidharth Kaul, Jason Holder and Rashid Khan, who shared the other five wickets.

Despite losing opener Padikkal early, Glenn Maxwell played a crucial role in the chase, scoring 59 off 41 balls. The win ensured a top-two finish for the RCB and a place in the playoffs. This season marked the first time that a ten-team IPL was played. The inaugural IPL featured eight teams and a number of underdog title runs.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

As the IPL heads towards its business end, Punjab Kings have surged ahead at the top of the table with their blend of explosive batting and clinical bowling. They are followed closely by Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Rajasthan Royals in a tense three-way tussle, with Gujarat Titans lurking just behind them.

Pat Cummins’ side fought back to beat RCB by 55 runs in their 14th IPL match, but they were unable to surpass them in net run rate at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen both made a significant contribution to SRH’s total, but Abhishek Sharma’s stunning 47-ball century stole the show.

Despite their loss, the Sunrisers are still on course to make it into the playoffs, but they will need to win their remaining matches and hope that RCB and KKR lose theirs. However, even if SRH manage to do that, they would have to defeat KKR by an astronomical margin.

At the bottom of the table, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), and Mumbai Indians (MI) are all battling to save their playoff hopes. They will need to win their remaining three matches and hope that RR, RCB, and GT lose theirs to stay alive in the race for a place in the top four. In case all of that fails, they will be forced to play the Eliminator in order to qualify for the playoffs.

Delhi Capitals

The Delhi Capitals are a professional cricket team based in New Delhi, India. The franchise competes in the Indian Premier League, a Twenty20 tournament, and also has a women’s team that plays in the South African T20 Super Cup. The team is owned and operated by JSW GMR Cricket Pvt. Ltd, which is a joint venture between the GMR Group and JSW Group.

The team was founded in 2008, and was previously known as the Delhi Daredevils. In 2015, the Delhi Capitals finished seventh in the IPL, receiving widespread criticism from the city’s fans. The following year, the team improved their performance, winning four of their fifteen matches and finishing in sixth place.

In the 2021 IPL, Delhi Capitals dominated the first six matches before losing to the Mumbai Indians in their seventh match. This was largely due to Virender Sehwag’s innings against the Mumbai Indians, in which he made 161 runs. He was later named the Man of the Match. The team struggled in the second half of the season, however, and missed out on the playoffs.

The Delhi Capitals retained 14 players and traded in India opener Shikhar Dhawan from Sunrisers Hyderabad. The team also signed South Africa wicket-keeper Quinton de Kock. The club’s captain is Shreyas Iyer, and other members of the top order include Indian batsman Prithvi Shaw and young wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant.

The Delhi Capitals also have a good bowling attack, with spinner Amit Mishra and fast bowlers Jayant Yadav and Axar Patel. In addition, the team is managed by Indian entrepreneur Rahul Tewatia. The team plays its home games at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi.

The club has a secondary home ground at the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh International Stadium in Raipur, but they have not used this facility since 2016. In addition, they play some of their home matches at the Feroz Shah Kotla. For the latest Tata Ipl 2026 Points Table, fans can check the Delhi Capitals’ position, points, wins, losses, and net run rate along with the standings of other IPL teams.
