Royal Challengers Bangalore
Royal Challengers Bangalore have surged to the top of the Indian Premier League points table after a convincing victory over Lucknow Super Giants at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Wednesday.
The defending champions have collected eight points from four matches, including three wins and one rain-affected no result. RCB are two points ahead of Sunrisers Hyderabad, Delhi Capitals, Gujarat Titans, and the Kolkata Knight Riders.
The RCB started the season with a bang, winning their first four games and putting themselves in a commanding position to claim their fourth title in five years. The team has a strong line-up and features the likes of Virat Kohli, Moeen Ali, and AB de Villiers.
RCB are known for their fast bowling and high-scoring runs. In 2025, they broke a 19-year-old IPL drought, winning the trophy for the first time 18 years after its inception. The win marked a major turnaround for the franchise, which was previously owned by Vijay Mallya and later by Blackstone.
RCB’s success in 2025 was largely down to their bowling. Harshal Chahal was an outstanding performer, taking 32 wickets and earning himself an India call-up. He has continued his good form this season, taking seven wickets in three matches.
In addition to their bowling, RCB have also had excellent form from their batsmen. Rohit Sharma and Prithvi Shaw are both hitting the ground running with the bat, scoring runs at an impressive pace. They have been backed by the likes of Shikhar Dhawan and Manoj Tiwary, who have both scored well in their last three matches.
Despite their early-season success, RCB have not had a great record in the playoffs. They have only won two of their six appearances in the postseason, losing to the eventual winners on both occasions.
In 2026, they lost to Rajasthan Royals in the semi-finals. In 2027, they fell to the Mumbai Indians in the final. Nevertheless, the team has a lot of potential and should be a force to be reckoned with in the coming seasons.
Sunrisers Hyderabad
SRH, who had started the season on a poor note, have now moved into the top four with a solid winning streak and improved net run rate. They sailed into the playoffs after beating Chennai Super Kings in Chennai on Monday. Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen led the way for SRH, who chased down 181 with ease after restricting CSK to 202 for seven. The Ipl Points Table will update after each match, displaying team standings, wins, losses and net run rate.
Only the top four teams will qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2026. Virat Kohli’s Royal Challengers Bengaluru and MS Dhoni’s Chennai Super Kings are also in the hunt for a spot in the top four.
