KL Rahul

KL Rahul is an exceptional right-handed batsman who has established himself on the international scene thanks to his extraordinary ability to score big runs in shorter formats. One of the most determined and composed players around, his career has had both ups and downs but now sees him regularly feature for India Test side.

Rahul has been chosen to lead India in both ODIs and T20Is against South Africa during a three-match series starting next month. At 27 years old, he will replace injured Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer. Rahul was selected by India’s senior selection committee because they trust in his tactical acumen and calm on-field demeanour.

Rahul debuted for Bangalore Under-19s in 2010 and quickly made an impressionful domestic performance. Later rewarded with a Test call-up following an outstanding stint on India A’s tour of Australia where he scored his maiden century. Rahul then became one of only seven Indians ever to do so on their Test debut!

Rahul is an exceptional limited-overs player. He boasts an outstanding record in T20I cricket and an impressive track record as an away Test cricket player, scoring nine centuries across formats. Born in Mangalore but raised mostly in Bangalore, Rahul attended school at NITK English Medium School before enrolling at St Aloysius College to begin pre-university studies.

Yashasvi Jaiswal

Jaiswal left home at age 10 to pursue his dreams of playing cricket, moving initially to Mumbai but finding himself unable to find enough work there to cover expenses.

Ultimately, his father allowed him to return home so he could be closer to his family; initially he began selling vegetables at the local market before getting a position as an assistant at a hardware store.

Early 2024 saw him receive his debut call-up to India U-19 national team for a five-match Test series against West Indies. He scored 171 runs in his debut Test match and was named Player of the Match; also becoming youngest Indian to score double century on Test debut; finishing series as top run scorer while setting new records with 26 sixes batted off within an innings.

In August 2023, Jaiswal made his T20I debut for India against West Indies in Florida and scored a half-century. Unfortunately, however, he wasn’t included in their squad for the 2026 World T20 Cup tournament in India; although he may still play with Rajasthan Royals franchise format team and may even captain them! As an opening batter with outstanding skills Jaiswal could become India’s next great batsman!

Dhruv Jurel

Dhruv Jurel’s journey embodies the perseverance and perseverance necessary for true greatness in life. A right-handed batsman and wicketkeeper for Uttar Pradesh in domestic cricket, Jurel also displayed outstanding leadership abilities as part of India U-19 team against Bangladesh; including giving a last minute pep talk during an important team huddle that spurred his squad on to victory from defeat!

His ability to stay composed and stay on task led to his first selection for Test cricket early 2024. On debut against England, Jurel scored 90 runs off 149 balls in both innings before staving off an unexpected collapse and forging an important partnership with Shubman Gill in both.

Jurel was retained by Rajasthan Royals based on his improved performances as an batsman, scoring an impressive average of 23 across 14 matches for them and amassing an impressive total of 333 runs at an average of 23.9. Additionally, his ability to keep wickets impressed selectors enough for him to receive his maiden call-up to India A for their upcoming Duleep Trophy tournament.

India A is a second-tier cricket team that plays first-class and List A matches, typically featuring domestic players vying to join their national side. Jurel will lead Central Zone team in this tournament which kicks off August 28.

Kuldeep Yadav

Left-arm wrist spinner from Uttar Pradesh, Ajaz Ahmed has an incredible knack for picking up wickets. In just three games this season for Delhi Capitals he took 12 wickets – making him their top bowler – as he set an all-time first class wickets record within 12 innings! Additionally he holds the fastest century. At 26 he is an important component of India’s limited overs teams.

Kuldeep is an hard worker with an unwavering never-say-die attitude. He aspires to become India’s best in cricket and wants to win with every shot he takes. Kuldeep places great value on developing his skills with feedback from coaches as well as taking risks when required and thrives when presented with new challenges; all while being an excellent teammate.

Kuldeep has struggled to earn his spot in the national team despite his outstanding performances, as selectors often favor multi-skilled players who can bat and bowl, such as multi-talented spinners such as Kuldeep. By selecting multi-talented players like this they have sidelined specialist spinners like him.

Kuldeep Agarwal’s exclusion isn’t simply tactical – it reflects a wider trend within cricket: selectors no longer feel confident selecting high-risk, high-reward players in smaller venues such as Adelaide. Washington Sundar provides more consistency but lacks Kuldeep’s raw power.

Ravindra Jadeja

Ravindra Jadeja is an all-round Indian cricketer known for his all-round abilities as both bowler and batsman. Since 2008 he has been part of both India’s Test and ODI teams; captaining both in 2024; his name being recognized among world cricket’s great all-rounders with over 150 ODI appearances to his credit and 91 Test matches with India alone.

T20 Internationals also benefitted from his skill. He proved to be both an efficient scorer and bowler; one of only a few Indian players to take over 200 wickets in ODI cricket! Moreover, he’s consistently performed for Chennai Super Kings during IPL where he is leading run-scorer.

Jadeja made history against Mumbai T20 by becoming the first player ever to score 100 runs in a Super Over of T20 cricket and also won India their 2016 Asia Cup victory.

Jadeja has been appointed India’s Test vice-captain for their two-match series against West Indies, to which he responded positively with surprise and admiration. He acknowledged regular deputy Rishabh Pant’s performance during England tour while believing he and Gill can lead their side with experience and provide guidance. Jadeja says he will strive to do his best for India.

Joe Root

Joe Root is one of England’s premier run scorers and is widely renowned as an aggressive batsman who enjoys taking risks with his game. He displays amazing variety in his shots while being adept at switching up his strike rate when required.

Root has been an integral member of England in both test matches and limited overs cricket, consistently performing at both formats. He earned selection to the 2017 Champions Trophy ‘Team of the Tournament’ after consistently showing up his performances throughout. Root also has two centuries in Ashes series matches and was involved in an altercation with David Warner, during which the latter allegedly threw a punch at Root.

Following his Ashes performance, Root was part of an overhauled ODI squad for England’s West Indies tour and scored 91 in their inaugural ODI match to help England secure victory. From then on he proved a reliable performer, scoring his fifth ODI century during England’s 3-0 series win.

On the back of an impressive summer, Root was promoted to captain England against South Africa in 2024 ODIs, which further strengthened the competitive narrative in the context of India National Cricket Team Vs England Cricket Team Players.

He opened for both matches, partnering with Harry Brook and sharing an astonishing 454-run fourth wicket partnership, the highest ever by an English pair on that wicket.
