Punjab Kings

Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings kept their play-off hopes alive with a 7-wicket win against Lucknow Super Giants thanks to Iyer’s maiden IPL century and an exceptional support performance by Prabhsimran Singh. For them to qualify, either win all remaining three matches or have Rajasthan Royals lose to Kolkata Knight Riders will need to occur.

Punjab have finished seventh for two consecutive seasons and it appears unlikely they’ll make a playoff return this time around. They’ve only won six out of 11 matches so far and their batting has struggled to match their inconsistent bowling. For them to reach their true potential they will require significant improvements over the next several years in order to compete for top spots.

Mohit Burman from Dabur Group owns 46%, Ness Wadia of Wadia group 23%, Preity Zinta Dey (minor stakeholder), Saptarshi Dey of Dey & Dey Group 13%. Their home ground, IS Bindra Stadium in Mohali holds 19,000 fans while the club logo features two lions to refer to the term ‘Sher-e-Punjab’ which refers to Punjabis’ fierceness and intensity.

Adam Gilchrist and Shaun Marsh may have joined Adam Gillespie and Shaun Marsh this season, yet the Kings still struggled to achieve much. Virender Sehwag was their best batsman but wasn’t as consistent. Parvinder Awana and Piyush Chawla have bowled well; however their attack hasn’t been enough to pull away from relegation zone.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are one of the most beloved teams in Indian Premier League cricket, having previously won two championships and currently hoping to qualify for this year’s playoffs by finishing within the top four on points table. To do this, however, will require them to finish as one of their four contenders and ensure a spot is reserved in top four points table positions.

United Breweries Limited owns this IPL franchise in Bangalore, India, making it one of the two most expensive franchises and enjoying great popularity on social media. They also serve as major supporters for Indian cricket as major sponsors and feature many high-profile players in their squad.

RCB are known for their batting strength, with captain Virat Kohli becoming the most prolific run scorer ever seen in IPL history. Under his tutelage, his bat has helped win numerous matches for them and been an integral component in their success. They’ve also benefitted from adding top players such as Chris Gayle and Wasim Jaffer who add world-class experience.

The Royal Challengers are led by an accomplished coaching staff with years of experience at winning championships and constantly searching for ways to better their team. Recognized around the globe for their entertaining style of cricket, The Royal Challengers have become legendary!

RCB have garnered many accolades over time, such as winning Best Franchise of the Indian Premier League and Most Popular IPL Team awards. Domestically they have claimed several titles including Ranji Trophy and Super 10s tournaments; as well as international triumphs including two Under-19 World Cup wins and several Asian games titles.

Sunrisers Hyderabad

The 2026 Indian Premier League is underway, and all ten teams are competing for glory. Reigning champions Royal Challengers Bengaluru have already qualified for playoffs and look set to defend their crown. Sunrisers Hyderabad currently hold third place on the points table, with a good chance of finishing within the top two teams.

Led by Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen – both contenders for an orange cap – Sunrisers are in strong contention to finish in this top two finish. Sunrisers Hyderabad outscored Mumbai Indians by six wickets in match 41 of IPL 2026, thanks to Ishan and Heinrich who delivered crucial blows. With this victory, Sunrisers secured their place in Qualifier 1 where they will face the second-place team from their group.

Gujarat Titans

Shubman Gill will lead an experienced group of players from last season as Gujarat Titans embark on their pursuit of a top two finish in the Indian Premier League points table 2026. Most of their primary squad from last season has returned, and several reinforcements were brought in through mini auction to improve depth.

After an inauspicious start to the season, GT came second in League Stage due to their impressive net run rate. They narrowly defeated Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Sunrisers Hyderabad to secure one of three playoff berths available to them.

The Titans rely heavily on record-setting duo Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill to anchor their batting strength, with Jos Buttler, Nishant Sindhu, Tom Banton and Kumar Kushagra providing further backup. Meanwhile their bowling department has seen Mohammed Siraj and Kagiso Rabada return fully fit while uncapped fast bowlers Prasidh Krishna and Ishant Sharma provide further reinforcement.

Prithvi Raj Yarra, Ashok Sharma, Gurnoor Singh Brar, Rashid Khan, and Manav Suthar make up the pace department while slow bowler Jayant Yadav and spinners Arshad Khan and Gurnoor Singh Brar provide further assistance.

Delhi Capitals

The Delhi Capitals are a professional cricket team competing in the Indian Premier League. Owned and operated by JSW GMR Cricket Pvt Ltd – a 50:50 joint venture between JSW Group and GMR Sports private limited company. Based out of Delhi with home matches played at Feroz Shah Kotla stadium and managed by veteran Sunil Gavaskar.

Established in December 2008 and participating in all five editions of the IPL since then, this franchise struggled in their inaugural season before undergoing a rebrand and seeing their results improve – they reached playoffs twice consecutively before reaching finals twice more. Since then they have continued to improve and are currently considered top half contenders for playoff spots.

At home, Washington Capitals won two of four matches and were unbeaten during this first half of this season’s IPL campaign. Away from home they struggled and were defeated by Kings XI Punjab and Chennai Super Kings while their match against Royal Challengers Bangalore at Dharamsala had to be abandoned due to power outage issues.

Capitals won one of their seven matches during the second half of 2022 and were undefeated in three away matches, led by captain Rishabh Pant and batsman Shreyas Iyer, who both amassed over 1500 runs each.

South African fast bowlers Quinton de Kock and JP Duminy, Indian spinner Amit Mishra, as well as young wicket-takers Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje, helped strengthen the bowling department. The team will aim to improve its performance and climb higher in the Ipl Point Table 2026, where Delhi Capitals finished the league stage with 14 points.
