Musheer Khan

Musheer Khan has emerged as one of India’s brightest young talents since being raised in Mumbai and his all-round abilities have made him an exciting prospect for national selection.

Influenced by both father Naushad and elder brother Sarfaraz – passionate coaches themselves – Musheer spent hours practicing at Mumbai’s Azad Maidan honing his craft before eventually making the National team squad.

As a result of his impressive age-group performances, he was selected for Mumbai’s squad at the 2022-22 Cooch Behar Trophy tournament and went on to score 632 runs and take 32 wickets en route to winning Player of the Tournament honors; marking an important first step on his journey towards domestic cricket’s elite ranks.

Musheer made his mark at cricket in 2024 when he represented India at the Under-19 Cricket World Cup and scored over 300 runs while also taking seven wickets, playing an instrumental part in India’s runner-up finish. Additionally, Musheer became the youngest Mumbai batter ever to score a century in a Ranji Trophy final (breaking Sachin Tendulkar’s own record set by him).

Musheer Ahmad had already proven his talent as an all-rounder domestically before making a spectacular all-round performance against Rajasthan at Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium during India B’s opening match of the Duleep Trophy tournament – making an unbeaten 181 off 373 balls for India B against them in Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy Stadium in their inaugural Duleep Trophy match.

Musheer’s remarkable innings cemented his status as an emerging star who will help shape Indian cricket’s future.

Musheer is an all-round all-rounder, capable of both bowling spin and being an effective lower order batsman. Punjab Kings acquired him at auction for a base price of Rs 30 lakh in Jeddah and will have an opportunity soon enough to showcase his abilities on a larger stage.

Mayank Agarwal

Agarwal made his mark as an outstanding batsman during T20 league play, where his flashes of brilliance earned him recognition. In 2010, Agarwal led India U19 in run scoring.

On Test debut against South Africa in December 2018 Agarwal hit five centuries and double hundred on debut! Now an integral member of India test side and Punjab Kings in IPL.

India A will travel to England next month under the leadership of Shubman Gill, with KL Rahul expected to open their batting alongside Agarwal – both having played for their respective clubs before. It will be interesting to observe their performance together on tour.

The Indian A team boasts an abundance of young talent. Players such as Riyan Parag, Dhruv Jurel, Ravindra Jadeja, Tanushree Dandekar, Khaleel Ahmed, Prasidh Krishna Akash Deep and Avesh Khan. Additionally, veteran wicketkeeper-batsman Ashoke Dinesh Karthik and experienced opener Dwayne Smith make up part of its ranks.

India A team will play several Twenty20 matches during their tour before moving on to compete in the Duleep Trophy tournament, which begins September 5.

The new round-robin format has seen both India A and India B teams competing against one another with Ravindra Jadeja’s India B cricket team led by Ravindra Jadeja containing some familiar faces alongside new additions – domestic players as well as some international stars under Rohit Sharma’s guidance will compete on October 4 at M Chinnaswamy Stadium Bangalore

Riyan Parag

Riyan Parag is an outstanding young batsman from Guwahati who has made waves in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Hailing from a family with sporting roots – his mother was an Olympic swimmer while his father played first-class cricket – it comes as no surprise that Riyan excels at cricket naturally.

Since debuting as a senior cricketer in 2022 he has shown great promise; being a member of India’s Under-19 World Cup-winning squad and performing admirably for Assam in 2022-23 Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024 Deodhar Trophy seasons.

Rajasthan Royals purchased him during IPL 2019 auction and he quickly made history, becoming one of the youngest players to score 50 in IPL history.

Since joining their squad he has become a key run-scorer helping reach playoffs both seasons he played. Even more impressively he was named Royals captain for the initial three games of season 2019.

Riyan’s rise through the ranks has been impressive, yet he needs to improve his consistency at the highest level. Although some of his off-field antics may have contributed to some early struggles, his talent cannot be denied and it was no secret when he was named in both Indian ODI and T20I squads.

We look forward to watching him develop over time – potentially being an asset in India’s batting line-up!

Dhruv Jurel

Dhruv Jurel has emerged as one of India’s brightest young prospects since impressing at the 2020 U19 World Cup and then two solid domestic seasons; after being picked up by Rajasthan Royals ahead of their 2024 IPL auction bids he became a formidable multi-format batsman and technically adept wicket-keeper, earning himself his maiden Test call-up against England shortly thereafter.

For his efforts he received the Man of the Match award; it is evident that selectors had high hopes for him.

Jurel made another powerful impactful contribution with the bat at Ranchi in Test 4. His 90 runs in the first innings kept India in contention despite falling wickets around him, and later formed an invaluable partnership with Shubman Gill to enable a hard-fought win over England.

KL Rahul

KL Rahul, hailing from Karnataka, made his first-class debut in 2010. Following impressive performances against Australia in 2014 in Test cricket, he earned himself an international call-up and scored an outstanding century on debut!

KL has proven himself adept at all three forms, playing long innings while known for powerful hitting; boasting nine centuries away from home throughout Test history!

He currently plays for India A, which is considered the second tier of national cricket teams. This team acts as an opportunity for young cricketers to showcase their talent.

Domestic players who are contending for selection to the main squad often find themselves selected to India A as development squad players; international players not enrolled in its main roster may also get selected.

Rahul debuted for Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2013, before being bought up by Sunrisers Hyderabad before the 2014 IPL season began. For 2021 IPL season he became captain of Kings XI Punjab and earned himself an Orange Cap award as highest run scorer – notching up 14 international T20I centuries along the way!

He was chosen as vice-captain of India for the 2022 ICC World Cup, and helped lead them to victory. A versatile middle order player who can play any position, as well as being an excellent fielder and boasting a potency off-spin bowling leg break, he played an integral part in leading India to victory.
