The First Test

Pakistan had an imposing first innings score of 823-7, leaving them looking like they might end their long losing streak at last. England proved otherwise. They completely controlled the second innings to secure an amazing 310-run victory by close of play despite only having one of their openers fit and two frontline bowlers available to them.

England came away victorious from this game with not only an initial lead in the three-match series but also Pakistan’s lowest home score since 2022 – beating them by an innings and 47 runs – which set a new benchmark for visiting teams beating Pakistan on their home ground.

Ollie Pope, appointed England captain for this series, spoke of his pride in his side after the match and commended their performance. He specifically highlighted Harry Brook and Joe Root’s superb partnership which helped shift momentum in their favour while also noting Brydon Carse’s impressive debut and Jack Leach’s return seamlessly into their squad.

He was particularly proud of England’s ability to attack with both pace and spin, something which he considered key to their success. Additionally, he commended their players’ response after their difficult start, not giving up, which will no doubt live long in the memory. It was a performance which will certainly stand the test of time; one which proved England will not take Pakistan lightly and maintain their thrilling rivalry for many more tests ahead. With dramatic collapses and five fors being commonplace during this encounter it should definitely have been shown on a big screen!

The Second Test

As England and Pakistan have enjoyed a decades-long rivalry, their matches have served more than just sports events; they’ve provided an outlet for cultural exchange and showcased each team’s growth on the world stage. Although these matchups have produced thrilling finishes and memorable moments for both sides, not every matchup has ended positively for either one.

In Multan, England faced another formidable test when they were presented with a daunting 297 target to chase on an undulating surface that was used from their first innings re-use and encountered Pakistan’s bowling attack; especially from off-spinner Shoaib Bashir (4-66) who proved particularly lethal against left-handers, Noman Ali, who continued his relentless assault of England’s batsmen.

Joe Root was given out on a sweep, while Harry Brook was bowled by an accurate leg side delivery from Ollie Pope and Brydon Carse. But, even so, Pakistan wrapped up their innings quickly in the last session.

As a result, the series was tied 1-1 and would go down to the final Test in Rawalpindi. England were hoping to avoid repeating history and secure their first away victory against Pakistan since almost thirty years. But a disappointing field display and Sajid Khan’s brilliance with bat and ball gave Pakistan everything they needed for an historic win that will remain memorable in years to come and will have lasting ramifications on future competition. Regardless of its outcome, England must change drastically their playing style in order to remain victorious against Pakistan in such high stakes games.

The Third Test

Pakistan and England cricket teams share an enduring rivalry, marked by high-stakes matches that have had lasting repercussions for world cricket. Their clashes represent more than just games; they’ve become cultural exchanges that promote mutual respect despite fierce rivalry on the pitch.

This latest Test in Rawalpindi was no different, featuring nail-biting action that ultimately saw Pakistan claim their first series win since 2021. Home side Pakistan put on an outstanding performance from all aspects of play – batsmen, bowlers, and fielding alike!

England began the final Test intending to fight for their lives and reputation. Instead, they found themselves being battered apart by Sajid Khan and Noman Ali – two spinners from Pakistan’s ranks who proved far superior than anything they faced previously – in particular Sajid’s feat of taking 39 out of 40 wickets for Pakistan!

Even with such a devastating loss, England were still able to achieve some notable achievements. Zak Crawley and Ben Duckett put on an excellent opening stand of 56 runs before Crawley was dismissed for 29 by Noman Ali; but then Smith saved their day with his superb innings of 89 not out which took their total up to an acceptable 267 total.

England have also found numerous positives from this series, notably Shan Masood’s innings which served as a lesson on how to counter Pakistan’s slow turning tracks with effective bating technique and temperament exemplified in his total of 134 not out – his third century of the series and first one since Eoin Morgan in 2012. It marked his passage past 2,000 Test runs for England since Eoin Morgan passed the milestone back in 2012.

The Final Test

The final Test between Pakistan and England was an unforgettable and riveting battle that produced many memorable moments throughout. From Harry Brook’s record-setting innings to Noman Ali’s devilish spin bowling, both teams put on an amazing performance that showcased both its power and beauty; their rivalry will endure forever.

England secured victory in this Test match with an innings and 152 runs to spare, an extraordinary triumph considering they had struggled during the previous two matches of this series. England showed tremendous character and determination by winning this final match; further proof that they can compete with some of the finest teams worldwide.

Abrar Ahmed made an impressive first debut for England by taking five wickets on his inaugural innings – which earned him a place on the squad for the rest of the series. Pakistan batsmen managed to put up a solid fight, yet eventually succumbed to an innings defeat.

Pakistan’s frontline spinners put England on the backfoot from day one of their match at Multan and never let up, taking 20 England wickets between them, with Noman Ali taking an amazing maiden hat-trick during this remarkable performance that will live long in memory. It truly was remarkable and will be remembered fondly.

England’s batsmen also played their part in winning this match, with Joe Root and Harry Brook both scoring centuries to help their side reach an enormous total. England will certainly look forward to facing Pakistan again in future encounters.

On Saturday, Lord’s will host the final Test of this series and it promises to be another thrilling encounter between these longstanding rivals. Both squads boast formidable batting and bowling lineups and should provide for an exciting contest.
