India vs. Bangladesh
Bangladesh and India share an old rivalry that has only deepened with time. Their longstanding rivalry spans both sporting and political/cultural battlegrounds; often featuring fierce competition between fans on either side. Since Bangladesh’s debut into international cricket, their clash has become one of the most anticipated matches around.
Bangladesh is a small nation located entirely encircled by India. While Bangladeshi populations tend to be predominantly Muslim, India’s are predominantly Hindu. While their cultures vary greatly, both nations share many similarities including language and culture despite these distinctions. Political instability and civil unrest often take place within either nation causing match cancellations between them – something which may sometimes affect cricket games between them as well.
India and Bangladesh have experienced numerous violent incidents along their shared border in the past few years, straining relations between both countries. Bangladesh National Cricket Team was established in 1972. Bangladesh were granted associate membership by ICC in 1977 before eventually attaining full membership and test status by 2000.
However, Bangladesh has struggled to establish an effective domestic structure. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) oversees all aspects of cricket in Bangladesh and is headed by an elected President. Both sides recorded over 500 runs during this first Test; then in the second match Bangladesh narrowly lost by four wickets and managed a draw in this third and final encounter.
Bangladesh won the opening two ODI matches of their series against New Zealand before losing by an innings. Unfortunately, however, controversy arose when umpires in Bangladesh called a no-ball which later was resolved by the International Cricket Council with Bangladesh receiving an apology from match referee.

Bangladesh have made significant strides in recent years with their cricketing abilities. They have improved in Test, ODI and Twenty20 internationals while still struggling in Twenty20 matches. Shane Jurgensen became the first Bangladesh coach ever to win a Test series from October-November 2008 until Chandika Hathurusingha was appointed the new head coach in May 2014.
Her coaching style instilled tactical discipline as well as winning mindset within her squad that eventually resulted in Bangladesh sweeping Pakistan 3-0 home in an ODI series–Bangladesh’s first bilateral ODI series win against their regional foe.
